Almost 6000 young enthusiasts flocked to the “Messe der Wirtschaftsjunioren” recruitment fair for school leavers at Saarbrücken’s Congresshalle on 2 September. This careers fair is primarily geared towards those students who are hoping to embark on an in-house apprenticeship or a degree course in the near future.
Hager Group's stand was manned by Andreas Fuchs, Head of Commercial Training, along with three skilled technical instructors, five trainees and one student representative. Our Hager Group team held just short of 100 meetings in total. Attracting the most attention at the event were the skilled technical professions and the “office communication assistant (m/f)” job profile. The advantage of this careers fair is that attendance is not obligatory, so only students who are really interested in finding out more come along to the event. “As well as all the meetings we managed to conduct, we are delighted that we have already received so many applications from attendees,” says Andreas Fuchs.
With 120 or so skilled positions to discover, the careers fair offered a wide and varied programme for visitors. Over 100 companies and institutions attended the careers fair in a bid to recruit the skilled professionals of the future.
Although this was the ninth time the fair had been organised by the network for young entrepreneurs and executives (Netzwerk junger Unternehmer und Führungskräfte), it was the first time the event had been held in the Congresshalle in Saarland's capital, Saarbrücken. According to Ralf Linzmeier from the team of young business professionals responsible for organising the careers fair (Wirtschaftsjunioren Saarland), the positive reception and the fact that attendance was up by almost 1000 from last year was all down to the central location.
We look forward to receiving more applications and hope to welcome a host of new dedicated trainees to the company soon.
