The Hager Group has been cooperating with various universities in the field of engineering and machine-building for a number of years already. Now the Research and Development department is pleased to welcome a new colleague, Umesh Kumar, who came to the company through a partnership with ENSISA (elite university for engineering in Alsace) in Mulhouse. Mr Kumar has passed this training via the N + I network (www.nplusi.com), specialized in the integration of foreign students in engineering schools.
Mr Kumar, who is of Indian descent, completed a six-month internship at Hager Group in Obernai as part of his master’s degree in Automation & Systems and his training at ENSISA. This gave him the opportunity to acquire practical experience at a company, while the Hager Group in turn benefited from Mr Kumar’s extensive technical knowledge and his expertise in the field of electromagnetism. After completing his internship, Umesh Kumar was offered a permanent position as an engineer in the Research and Development department. Since September 2016, he has been supporting the department with the development of electrotechnical sub-assemblies and the validation of finished products.
“Partnerships with universities encourage innovation on both sides and offer us very good opportunities as an employer to establish contact with excellently educated students,” explains Susan Trulson, HR manager responsible for the Engineering division at the Hager Group.
“As an internationally operating family company, we are delighted that we were able to attract Mr Kumar to our company. Diversity is very important to us. With his friendly and open manner, Mr Kumar is an excellent fit for our corporate culture,” says Susan Trulson.
In addition to ENSISA, the Hager Group also maintains close contacts with ESTA (graduate school of technology and business) in Belfort, TPS (university for physics) in Strasbourg, INSA (national institute of applied sciences) in Strasbourg, ECAM (school of art and handicraft) in Strasbourg, UTBM (technical university) in Belfort-Montbéliard, the HTW University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrücken, the University of Applied Sciences in Kaiserslautern and the Heinrich Hertz School of Technology in Karlsruhe.
