Hager Group held its first international campaign week on the subject of health and well-being at work and declares it to have been a great success.
Hager Group, recognising the essential role its 11,400 employees play in the group's development, particularly in attaining the objectives set out for 2015, launched its first Health Week, held from 10th-14th June. The aim of this initiative was to raise the entire staff's awareness of the importance of health and well-being through activities and events organised at the company's sites worldwide.
Employees can use the company's exclusive internet platform to participate in the programme online, scoring points for their teams for their daily physical activities. An online competition for the most creative sports photos has also been launched on the website. The big winners will be announced on 10th July 2013.
Although Hager Group has been very committed to the health and well-being of its employees for many years, this group-wide initiative is a first. It has received an overwhelmingly positive response, and according to Franck Houdebert, Group Human Resources Director: "It is extremely encouraging to see the very high level of interest in health and well-being issues at all of our international sites. We all hope to maintain the momentum and enthusiasm triggered this week and continue to share our varied and complementary approaches to these issues with each other."
Many types of events and activities were held over the week focussing on the core components of the Group's Care Management* programme, which include prevention and security, sports, work-life balance and ergonomics. Sporting activities included table tennis and basketball in China, cricket and tug-of-war in India, Tai Chi in the Netherlands, Nordic walking in Poland, running, water zumba and power dumbbell in France and Germany. The employees burned a lot of calories! They could also enjoy fresh fruit baskets and smoothies, get relaxing massages and free cinema tickets and learn about health and nutrition at the many conferences held at the company's sites.
One of the highlights of the week was a visit by the players of the 1.FC Saarbrücken (3rd Division German National League) at the company headquarters in Blieskastel, Germany. The site's employees met the professional players, attended one of their practice sessions and were given advice by some of the players and their coach on physical conditioning and nutrition.
Some sixty employees from France and Germany also participated on 19th June in the "BASF Firmencup 2013" (inter-company race) on the legendary Formula 1 racetrack in Hockenheim. The atmosphere was friendly for the participants who ran a lap around the track, some with running shoes, others with rollerblades, proud to represent Hager Group. From there the festivities continued at the reception area set up especially for the event.
The high level of participation and motivation of the employees from the group's sites worldwide attest to the success of this first Hager Group Health Week. The initiative will be pursued year round through various activities which the Care Management Department will further develop.
