Hager Group runs for a reason in India!

On Sunday 18th January in Mumbai, India, 25 Indian colleagues and 5 Channel partners ran under Hager Group colours at 12th edition of Asia's largest marathon: The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM). For the second consecutive year local Indian teams put on their running shoes to take part in this initiative, which is in line with Hager Group’s E3 Approach (Ethics, Environment, Energy) and also Diversity. Every year, more than 45 000 participants get kitted up to participate in one of the six running events, the most famous is the classic 42,195 km marathon. 25 employees and 5 Channel partners ran the 'Dream Run', a race that allows companies to support a cause. This year, the registration fees for the marathon were donated to the foundation "Concern India" which promotes education, health and community development in India. Beyond the sporting aspect, this event is the largest solidarity platform in India to raise funds for charities.

A big thank you to all our sporty colleagues and supporters for their commitment, courage and energy ... See you on 17th January 2016 for 13th edition with more participation!

Did you know…?

The name Marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger. The legend states that he was sent from the battlefield of Marathon to Athens  to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon (in which he had just fought), which took place in 490 BC. It is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping and burst into the assembly, exclaiming νενικήκαμεν (nenikekamen, "we have wοn"), before collapsing and dying.
