For our Indirect Sourcing Department we are currently looking for a permanent position as experienced Senior Buyer Standard and Special Machines (f/m) based in Blieskastel (Germany).

Senior Buyer Standard and Special Machines

Embedded in the global Hager Group Sourcing network you will coordinate the indirect sourcing activities for your portfolio within the frame of Hager Group Sourcing procedures and processes.

The position implies strategic and operational tasks with a performance that maximizes the Sourcing Leverage of the Hager Group on global and regional level. The portfolio is embedded within the Sourcing team “Standard Machines and Special machines” and encloses mainly standard tooling machines and components, plastic molds and specific components as well as lift trucks and similar logistic equipment.

In this role you develop sourcing strategies that deliver Continuous Cost Performance and Process Improvement. Responsible for about 10 Mio € annual spend you lead all category specific sourcing projects related to your portfolio and drive them to successful completion and enables cost savings initiatives to align with company goals. You build and maintain relationships with suppliers, work directly with business stakeholders, and report to the Manager Purchasing Standard and Special Machines.

Your tasks in detail:

  • Lead development & implementation of effective sourcing strategies
  • Analyze global spend and built corporate wide supplier panel
  • Perform reverse marketing studies to evaluate the market and gather overview about cost and technology levels in different regions
  • Evaluate Supplier offers by applying cost analyze intelligence and prepare Total Cost of Ownership analyses
  • Responsible for negotiating related contracts, pricing and issues with suppliers
  • Manage supply risks and perform regularly risks analyses of the related supply base.
  • Agree corporate contracts with the supplier and define dedicated Service Level Agreements where necessary
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure processes supporting capital expenditure are being maintained.
  • Manage daily purchasing activities and transactions; e.g. RFQ, PO issuance
  • Drives supplier scorecards / ratings on an ongoing basis to measure supplier performance
  • Travels regularly as business needs dictate, mainly within Europe especially Germany and France

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in Business administration, i.e. Purchasing, Engineering Finance, Economics. A technical knowledge is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing, negotiation, category management for multiple indirect categories.
  • Business experience with one or more targeted products/services
  • Experiences working in an international company

  • Solid negotiations skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proven record in leading change and implementing new purchasing concepts
  • Ability to work in intercultural environment
  • Expertise in financial analysis with knowledge in cost model development
  • Team player with the ability to work amongst cross-functional teams
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills in English, German and French
  • Good IT skills (SAP, Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.)
