One Hager Group’s ambition is to increase availability, reliability and efficiency within its logistics network. As such, Hager Group is shifting its European logistics network model from a ‘close to the factory’ setup to a ‘close to the customer’ one. The new platform in Vendenheim, in the greater Strasbourg area in North East France, is a key step to further reaching this ambition. This logistics platform both owned and managed by Hager Group, will ensure the delivery of the export orders and restocking of other European warehouses starting in 2021.
After construction work was launched in summer 2019, the 26,000 m² building is now finished and final delivery planned for 18th December 2020. The platform is about to be fully equipped and the installation of an automatisation system is already ongoing. Two further phases are planned for next year: May 2021 will be the launch of storage and shipping of oversized products and at end September 2021 will begin logistics activities for modular products.
Once operational, this new facility will be Hager Group's largest distribution centre. An investment of several dozens of millions of euros was made. Around 100 Hager Group employees will work at the European logistics network centre preparing orders for the company’s customers with the help of 10 automated stations. The entire platform will store 30,000 references and up to 40 lorries will pick up the products and solutions for delivery in Europe.
This logistics project at Vendenheim is being supported in parallel with others in France and Germany to prepare and streamline the logistics organisation in line with the company’s objectives of growth and transformation.
In September 2020, Hager Group signed a rental agreement for a 40,000m² logistics facility in Hammersbach in the Rhine-Main region near Hanau, Germany. The objective being to comply to increasing customer expectations and improve the logistics processes and capabilities for deliveries in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Luxembourg.
