From 6th to 9th April 2015, former world record holder in high speed snowboarding Edmond Plawczyk will attempt to smash the 201 km/h record held by Australia’s Darren Powell since 1999. The event will take place on the Chabrières slope in Vars, French Alps. And when the 43-year-old French all-round athlete who lives in Switzerland prepares to take the plunge, he will be safe in the knowledge that someone has his back: his new partner Hager.
Shared vision and values
Hager is not just sponsoring an extreme athlete; this is the start of a great adventure for both parties. The move does not signal a radical change in the company’s focus or a new direction in its sponsorship policy, but is simply based on the fact that Plawczyk and Hager share the same vision and values. CEO Daniel Hager explains: “This partnership might be surprising, considering what we do. People might wonder what snowboarding has to do with solutions for electrical installations. As I see it, the thing that unites us is our courage. Once again, Hager is demonstrating its ability to innovate and to back determined individuals and great ideas.”
Plawczyk’s ambitious record attempt in this extraordinary discipline pushes the boundaries of human achievement, and the company aims to use it to communicate the values that have made it so successful since it was founded exactly 60 years ago: courage, authenticity and integrity. Hager and Plawczyk share many qualities, including team spirit, open-mindedness, appreciation of diversity, effectiveness, resilience and precision. Above all, Hager can identify with Plawczyk on a personal level. He comes from Alsace – another thing he has in common with the company with Franco-German roots, which is implanted there since 1959, – and considers sport a family affair. Having changed career several times, he has always been able to reinvent himself, which is exactly what Hager strives to do every day. The company could not help but be impressed by this enthusiastic, diehard, courageous and authentic athlete, who symbolises its own quest for excellence.
Support for the long term
And so the adventure begins. Hager will ensure that Edmond Plawczyk has the best possible training conditions, equipment, management and support so that he can concentrate on his performance – both tomorrow and further into the future.
One to watch ...
Edmond Plawczyk is making history – and Hager will make sure that his story is told.
