Hager Group sites Schalksmühle und Ottfingen (Northrhine-Westphalia) have been rewarded with the “2014 Excellent training company” award.
To ensure Hager Group continues to have the skills it needs, it is essential not just to attract the best trainees but also to make sure they have access to the best possible training and support, along with attractive opportunities for the future. In this respect the group is clearly on the right track, as shown by the news that the Berker sites in Schalksmühle and Ottfingen have been singled out for the 2014 “Excellent training company” award.
As Henrike Dresel, Berker personal development and training manager, is keen to point out, “We are the only company in the area around Ottfingen to be rated excellent.” Those in charge of training within the company are particularly proud of the fact that the trainees’ own assessment was so positive. In addition, the anonymous survey yielded some important information about “areas where there was still potential for improvement”, says Friedhelm Clemens, trainer in charge of commercial/technical positions in Ottfingen.
The excellent results obtained from the first application to this sought-after label illustrate the importance that is attributed at Hager Group to training the next generation of employees.Trainees’ praise is not simply confined to the good working atmosphere and helpful attitude between colleagues found within the group.
To ensure classroom training is also a success, learning groups are encouraged right from the start of apprenticeships, and efforts are made to ensure trainees have sufficient freedom to prepare for exams. There is also a grant for learning materials. The exciting and very impressive visits to trade fairs (such as Light & Building, the world’s leading architecture and technology fair, in Frankfurt in April) were a special highlight for trainees, as were the visits to other Hager Group sites, including Bleiskastel (Saarland). With such positive feedback, coupled with the aim of continuing further developments and the optimisation of training conditions, nothing should stand in the way of receiving the “Excellent training company” award in 2015 as well.
“Excellent training company”
The “Excellent training company” award was created by the Ertragswerkstatt GmbH to draw attention to companies’ training performance. In 2014, 64 companies, employing a total of 40,000 people and more than 2,000 trainees, took part in this initiative in south-west Germany. It involves a certification procedure in two phases, where, in addition to key training statistics, particular attention is paid to trainees’ own personal appreciations of their companies. The Ertragswerkstatt hopes that every year (from 2013 onwards) the award will ensure young people receive impartial, reliable and credible guidance on choosing the best training company.
