Category Purchasing Manager (m/f/d)

Mission

As Category Purchasing Manager you will play a major role in driving a purchasing policy that respects environmental-protection and social-progress whilst ensuring a competitive cost level, right quality and delivering capabilities. You consolidate Hager Group’s environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) by identifying our carbon emission baseline and by supervising the associated suppliers regarding CSR risks. Driving Hager Group’s CSR purchasing policy by establishing a structured approach and strategy in favor of environmental and social causes and strengthening the overall value chain through socially and environmentally conscious purchases belong as well to the mission of this important role. 

Responsibilities

• Incorporate environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) requirements as part of the sourcing activities 
• Drive a high-level performance within a culture of collaboration, whilst focusing on our ESG objectives, process standardization, implementation of best practices and talent development, including inclusion & diversity
• Develop, direct, and manage overall purchasing roadmaps for assigned spend categories with suppliers who are able to deliver recycled and alternative materials and oversee the execution of initiatives – accountable for reporting of purchasing savings and compliance
• Develop negotiation strategies & participate in negotiations with vendors on price, delivery, terms, data quality and and ESG related criteria
• Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of purchasing activities including supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance and on-time deliveries
• Promote collaboration across Hager’s Group Sourcing Community to find synergies and negotiate aggregated volumes to achieve commercial benefits

 
Profile

• University degree or relevant commercial/technical education
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement function
• Proven track record of delivery of value from strategic activities
• Operationally und technical savvy and ability to effectively manage projects simultaneously whilst meeting agreed deadlines and goals
• Demonstrated ability to navigate and collaborate across functions, businesses, geographies and disciplines
• Strong presence and interpersonal skills to build effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders
• Expert understanding of multi-step strategic sourcing processes, strategies and related digital applications (SAP, Ariba Sourcing, Guided Buying)
• Excellent negotiation skills up to executive level with understanding of contractual negotiation, development, and local regulations
• Fluent proficiency in English, and good skills in German and French language
