Intercontinental Hotel***** (Marseille)

Famous among Marseille locals and Vieux-Port regulars, the Hôtel-Dieu in Marseille has reacquired its prestige. Following a spectacular renovation, this iconic building of France’s second city, built in 1188, has become a luxury hotel. Colours, lighting, decorations: the refinement of this five-star establishment is in keeping with the identity of the place. This gem, containing 178 rooms, including 15 royal suites, exquisite and intimate, has struck the balance between past and future and gives the Hôtel-Dieu back its original character. On this large-scale project, which required time, ambition, and a lot of expertise, Hager brought its technical expertise to bear on two levels: electrical distribution and lighting management for the common areas of the hotel (restaurant, brasserie, conference rooms). The technical challenges for this historic building: resolving the complex cable trunking issues and calibrating the equipment to incorporate them in the site’s architecture. Hager designed and provided a system that matches the exceptional scope of the establishment: a general low-voltage board powered by two 800 kVa transformers, 46 switchboards, 117 room control panels, and a management system for 6,000 lights using 15 touch screens.
