100 years of Berker

Colleagues and family join in the anniversary celebrations.

On 14th September around 1,300 people - Berker brand colleagues, their families, the top management and even the deputy mayor of Wenden - came to the Berker site in Ottfingen to celebrate Berker’s 100th anniversary.

In his opening speech, Daniel Hager made it clear how proud the entire group can be of its 100th anniversary, because "very few companies manage to grow this old". He shared with those present that one secrets of successful ageing is the ability to adapt and change. The teams at Berker have clearly demonstrated these qualities, for example when they became part of the Hager Group in 2010.

A 100-year success story: another secret to Berker's success is the outstanding design of its switches and sockets. The fact that Berker has won a total of 48 international design awards over the past nine years speaks for itself. These awards also emphasise that good design, quality and innovation have always been and continue to be important 100 years down the line.

100 years after its creation, Berker - a leading supplier of switch ranges and intelligent building management systems - employs around 700 people, many of whom brought their families to the birthday celebration. They toured the site and took a look behind the scenes; there was good food and plenty of activities for both children and adults. Ralph Bertelt, one of Berker's managing directors, thanked all the employees for their hard work and dedication mentioning that quite a few of them have been with Berker for several decades. Indeed, since he has been in the group he has congratulated almost 200 employees for their outstanding length of service.
