A new boost for e-mobility: witty.park charges electric vehicles on the go

While e-mobility has been fairly slow to catch on so far, electric vehicles are expected to grow in popularity over the next few years. With witty.park, which was unveiled at the IAA (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung – International Automobile Fair) 2015 in Frankfurt, Hager is introducing a new charging station for semi-public spaces that will allow drivers to charge their electric vehicles quickly and safely while they are away from home.

witty.park is intended for use in car parks belonging to businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and cinemas – semi-public places where different kinds of users can charge their electric vehicles while they are out and about. The robust, versatile charging station is specially designed for this purpose.

The advantages of witty.park at a glance:

  • easy to control and pay for using an app
  • two charging points per station (making it quick and efficient for electricians to install)
  • built-in energy gauge and Ethernet connection
  • can be mounted on the wall or floor
  • suitable for intelligent charging management (for charging up to 30 vehicles simultaneously)
  • made of UV-resistant materials and a weather-resistant body
  • compatible with various billing systems (smartphone,
    credit card etc.)
  • individual branding / labelling possible

“For drivers of e-vehicles, having the possibility to charge their battery and extend their range while they are out and about is crucial,” explains Johannes Hauck from Hager Group's Business Development unit. “With witty.park companies can provide their employees and customers with a convenient way to charge their vehicles – thus increasing their loyalty.”

The response to witty.park at the IAA was very positive. The new Hager charging station was presented alongside Hubject, Europe's biggest e-mobility roaming platform. Together with Freshmile, the experts for e-mobility payment services, Hager carried out a live demonstration of the advantages of using a charging station connected to the Internet. In total, over 200 charges were carried out using a smartphone app or RFID card during the IAA.

The charging station, which has proven to be very popular so far, will come onto the market in 2016.
