Euroskills 2021: promoting and enhancing the future of the electrical trade

Sponsoring of the European Championships of Professions Trades for the Future and empowering young talents

Last September saw what is probably one of the most unique events of the year in Austria. At the European Championship of Occupations, young, fully-trained professionals from all over Europe came together to compete for one of the coveted medals in around 48 different professions. Hager Austria and one of our partners, Sonepar Austria, were proud to be named Gold Sponsors.

Shaping tomorrow’s electrical trade
Across Europe, various industries suffer from shortages of skilled workers. This is no different in the electrical engineering arena. The biannual EuroSkills event is aimed at shining a spotlight on the possibilities and opportunities of skilled craftmanship and at reviving the passion and respect for these careers especially among younger generations.

Changing perspectives on the world and new possibilities in the fields of smart home, photovoltaics and e-mobility will shape the job profile of future electricians, whose skills are a vital building block for a sustainable future.

In consultation with the Hager Group Board of Directors, Hager Austria and Sonepar Austria acted as gold sponsors for this latest edition of the event. The aim was clearly to support a new appreciation and point towards a great future for those involved in the electrical trade. With this in mind, we also provided the majority of training materials free of charge for the participants in the electrical engineering category: Berker wiring accessories, trunking material, enclosures and much more.

Sharing knowledge to support young talent: we are growing together
Every year, trainers support young electrical engineers in their preparation for the competition. This year, we are particularly proud of our Hager Group employee Andrzej Szulik - our head of product marketing management in Poland - who is also the chief expert of the WorldSkills Poland organisation for the electrical installation competition. "EuroSkills is a unique event, combining the incredibly positive energy of young specialists and their top experts from all over Europe - it is something extremely inspiring, motivating and enhancing […] Hager Group places great emphasis on the electrical installer in its development strategy and strives to support installers in the early years of their professional career" explains Andrzej.

The vocational training of young people is crucial to creating the next generation of electrical installers. At Hager Group, we are convinced that we are learning and growing together to shape tomorrow’s electrical world.

Stay tuned for the next editions!
