The sector of services plays a strategic role for a leading supplier of solutions and services for electrical installations. The recent nomination of Martin Kaiser as head of these activities at Hager Group shows the importance of this segment for the company.
Services account for two thirds of economic output in the member countries of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). Four out of five jobs are in the services segment. Today’s service sector is a real economic powerhouse.
Hager Group is adjusting its strategy in response to this trend. While the first few decades after the company’s establishment focused predominantly on developing and evolving its product portfolio, today much emphasis is laid on creating comprehensive service packages from delivery via installation to maintenance. This accurately ties in with the motto “From Products to Solutions”. Hager Group is also responding by appointing new strategic thinkers to its top management team. The most recent new arrival is Martin Kaiser. Previously employed at the Paris-based Bouygues Group’s telecommunications subsidiary, Kaiser joined Hager Group in Obernai as Head of Services effective January.
In line with the corporate strategy, Kaiser’s responsibilities relate predominantly to the digital organisation of the group’s business activities in the services field, their internationalisation, and their relationship with the group’s remaining business segments. “Electrical installations and smart safety and everyday technology solutions are converging, so I think we will be seeing some very interesting new markets emerging,” says Martin Kaiser. “An increasing number of customers are calling for internet-based package solutions for their offices and homes. Hager Group is already responding to this new development and plans to expand its portfolio of services in this field.”
Key business areas under this strategy are Ambient Assisted Living solutions, electric mobility, electrical engineering services and safety solutions (such as intelligent smoke detectors). Martin Kaiser will be responsible for the latter. “In addition to leading the market in terms of product quality, Hager Group plans to offer outstanding quality in services and enable new, innovative business and partnership models,” explains Martin Kaiser.
Martin Kaiser was born in Germany in 1971. He attended universities in France and the United States and holds an MBA in General Management from the University of San Diego. Having begun his career working for various business consultancies, in 2001 he joined Bouygues Telecom, where he worked in innovation, marketing and business development. Before joining Hager Group, he was Head of Marketing and Future Research, where he was responsible for digital services. Since 2006 Martin Kaiser has lectured in Corporate Strategy at the Sciences Po University in Paris.
“We’re delighted to welcome Martin Kaiser, an outstanding services expert, to the group. With his Franco-German background and international experience, he is an excellent fit for our company,” commented Daniel Hager, CEO of Hager Group.
