Hager Forum (Obernai)

Hager Forum in Obernai, France, was opened in 2015 and is a forum in the true sense of the word: this 7,140-square-metre building, designed by Sauerbruch Hutton Architects on behalf of Hager Group, serves as a training centre, a visitor centre, an events space, a café and a modern office building all rolled into one. Rather than attempting to make a pretentious corporate statement with the building, the architects created a subtle, H-shaped block made of wood and glass that eschews any grand gestures – not even the company’s name can be found on the façade. The most striking feature is the canopy roof structure, made of laminated timber and measuring 108 by 39 metres which points towards the company entrance. Built in ceiling panels provide optimum acoustic and climatic conditions within the building, while glass panels ensure there is plenty of natural daylight in the central areas of the atrium.
