The LANGE NACHT DER INDUSTRIE (Long Night of Industry) took place in Saarland on 28th September 2017. Held once a year, this event gives school pupils, students and people looking for jobs and training opportunities a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes at major companies. Taking part in this year’s event were 17 companies from the region. Hager Group was one of them, participating for the 7th time.
The evening is organised by the Saarland Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) along with the employers’ association AGV ME Saar. Each participant is invited to sign up for a tour of two companies when registering for the Long Night of Industry. We thus welcomed two separate groups of 50 visitors to our company on the evening of the event.
The guests were greeted in an address by Oswald Bubel, Managing Director of Hager Electro in Blieskastel, before being introduced to the company and the programme. In a change from previous years, the evening was devised in collaboration between the TAI Community (Hager Group’s trainees, apprentices and interns), the relevant specialist departments and Corporate Communications. At each stop along the way, former trainees gave the groups of visitors informative insights into their roles and responsibilities. There were four stops on the tour: at the commercial training centre, the commercial department, the testing laboratory and the production centre.
Then at the end, there was plenty of time for discussions and to get to know company representatives from all the different departments or chat with our trainees, apprentices and interns.
There was also a particular emphasis on the training opportunities available at Hager Group. A stand was also manned by colleagues from our commercial and technical training departments, who were on hand to tell the visitors about the various training opportunities and dual study courses offered in 2018.
“My son and I had a chance to look around Hager at the Long Night of Industry. I thought the way the trainees presented themselves throughout the event was fantastic, plus the atmosphere in the company was also very pleasant. Members of the management team were still around at the end and happy to talk, which was great. We looked around another company on the same evening and my son saw some huge differences here. He is extremely interested in Hager and will be taking advantage of the Open Day on 14th October to find out more about trainee programmes available with Hager Group.”
We are delighted with the positive response we received from the visitors and would like to say thank you to everyone who was involved in the event.
