Hager Group Future Council: weaving connections between the Board and the next generation

Young employees benefit the Board with their feedback

We come from all walks of life and operate in a multicultural, multigenerational, and diverse world. A central pillar of our sustainability strategy is diversity and inclusion, so we can make the most out of the richness which we all bring to the workplace. It encourages the openness, innovation and creativity which are integral to our success as a company. We approach the subject from four different angles: cultural diversity, gender diversity, disability and generational diversity.

Generational diversity: learning and growing together
In early in 2021 we set up the Hager Group Future Council with the aim to encourage intergenerational collaboration and learning. Twice a year, around ten young employees give the Board authentic feedback on strategic and cultural issues. This serves to build bridges and deepen connections between the Board and the younger generation at Hager Group. It also challenges perspectives on both sides and strengthens the voice and perception of the next generation within the company.

In this first year, eleven young people from different countries, genders and professional backgrounds participated in the 2021 Hager Group Future Council edition. Two lively meetings have already been held, the second at the end of October. Intensive and constructive discussions revolved around Project 2030, diversity, the development of the company and the topic of sustainability. “It was a great opportunity for me to meet the Vorstand: […]to learn about myself, and develop myself personally & professionally […]your voice is heard and you are able to express your personal opinions and to be more included in Hager Group strategy […]Networking possibilities are also more than great in such an experience.” were some of the opinions of the 2021 Hager Group Future Council members.
Also, the entire Hager Group Future Council 2021 was invited to our last Management Summer School to give the next generation a voice at this kind of strategic management event.

The way forward
The feedback from all involved was so positive that the journey will continue in 2022 with another group of young employees.

The new members of our Hager Group Future Council 2022 are currently being selected. Workshops will be held in the first half of 2022 to prepare for the first meeting with the Board in spring 2022
