Hager Group goes talent spotting at the 19th Career Day for Family Businesses (KFU)

In a bid to get young academics and experienced managers excited about embarking on careers in a wide range of family-run companies, the Foundation for Family Businesses (Stiftung Familienunternehmen) joined forces with leading family-run companies and the Entrepreneurs’ Club to launch the Career Day for Family Businesses (Karrieretag Familienunternehmen, KFU). This unique job fair is hosted by a different participating family business each time it is held; on 30th June 2017, the fluid technology specialists at Bürkert invited guests to Ingelfingen for this year's event. A total of 50 leading family businesses from all over Germany took part in the careers fair, taking advantage of the opportunity to talk to potential employees.

Hager Group also took part in the careers day for the third time. All in all, Hager Group’s human resources team interviewed nearly 30 candidates – some of the interviews were planned, while others were spontaneous. The candidates were highly motivated and very interested in the career opportunities at Hager Group, and now that the fair is over, the application processes are in full swing.  This day was very important for us as a company, as it allowed us to present ourselves and our corporate culture and open up a dialogue with lots of potential employees. One of the highlights of the event was the engineering lab we opened to give visitors a chance to find out more about our products and solutions.

Based on the vast number of applications received each time the careers day is held, it would be fair to say that the participating companies are perceived as attractive employers. Around 2,700 highly qualified professionals and managers applied to take part in the 19th Careers Day. Ultimately, 650 applicants from all over Germany and (in some cases) even further afield were selected to participate in the event. When large family businesses are based in rural areas – like Hager Group’s headquarters in Blieskastel – they depend on being perceived as an attractive employer beyond their region. This is precisely what careers fairs like this one help companies to achieve.
