On 11th April more than 80 children between the ages of 3 and 19 and their carers left their respective SOS Children’s Villages of Obernai, Merzig and Eisenberg, and headed to Amnéville. The programme for this fourth edition was action packed and full of excitement; participants discovered the 360 species residing in the zoo, from parrots to seals, gorillas to giraffes, tigers to African elephants, all spread out over the 18 hectare park.
The day for the 116 participants - children, carers and accompanying adults - was further brightened by shows, including one that is unique worldwide: TigerWorld, a breath-taking show with eight Bengal tigers and their trainer. Chocolate Easter bunnies were given in anticipation of Easter and to add an educational moment, the children did a quiz enabling them to further their knowledge.
This day put smiles on a lot of children’s faces. Chris (age 6), who lives in the Obernai village, tells us: "I loved it! The tiger show, the seal show, being able to see all the animals, the reptiles..."
One of his carers adds: "I’ve been wanting to take the children to the Amnéville zoo for a long time... I am very happy that I got to go and be a part of this wonderful day. Thank you to Hager Group!"
