Hager Group New Year Card 2015

The Peter-und-Luise-Hager Preis (Peter and Luise Hager prize) was announced for the third time at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar (Saar academy of fine arts – HBKsaar) in Saarbrücken, Germany, in 2014. The competition gave students the freedom to choose how they wanted to translate the theme of “electricity flows” into a work of art.

"Electricity flows" by Heegyu Heo
Heegyu Heo, 35, is originally from Busan in South Korea. He has been studying fine art at HBKsaar since 2012.

The original piece submitted by Heo consists of 24 photographic motifs.
Heo: “The landscape we see through the window of a vehicle creates the feeling of ‘flowing’ in an aesthetic sense. But at night-time, we can barely make out the landscape; instead what we see the most is the street lights. The theme ‘electricity flows’ therefore ties in well with the idea of street lights: they rely upon electricity in order to function, and I can only see the electricity flowing when I move.
By changing myself and moving in the moment, I change the present world.”
