Innovative fire station

The fire brigade in Walheim in the district of Ludwigsburg, Germany has opted for an innovative energy supply solution in the course its security refurbishment. A photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the operations centre covering a large part of the building’s power requirements. This domestic power plant of our E3/DC brand also ensures future reliable solar emergency power supply.

The energy requirement of the Walheim fire brigade is around 22,000 kWh per year. According to an expert's forecast, around 9,000 kWh will now be generated by the company itself. A photovoltaic system with an output of 9.6 kW installed by one of our E3/DC partner companies in Walheim is sufficient for this yield. An additional benefit: the system will also help to reduce energy costs with the consumption of solar power for the offices and heat pump for the building. The primary objective of the system, however, was a solar emergency power supply that would ensure an around-the-clock availability for the control centre. The system fitted perfectly on a small area of the flat roof. The 9.6 kW system feeds sufficient energy into the S10 E domestic power plant, which, with a storage capacity of 10 kWh and its emergency power function, exactly meets demands.
