A secluded private residence on the turquoise Aegean Sea has been transformed into a boutique hotel for travellers with discerning taste; its décor is inspired by shimmering images and Mediterranean locations. The Istoria’s design is an unconventional combination of Mediterranean features and different architectural & design features that embrace the distinctive traditional architecture of Santorini Island. The architectural outline for this boutique was to provide every suite with its own distinctive and refined simplicity. The designers met with architectural idiosyncrasies in the existing buildings necessitating a particular approach; the former residence had to be remodelled almost from scratch so as to accommodate the 12 suites.
Authentic features from the old residence; parts of the old wooden roof and stone pillars were incorporated into the interior design, offering a theatrical touch to the hotel spaces whilst creating a dialogue between the past and present.
