Light + Building: the 2016 edition of this world leading trade fair achieves record attendance

Light + Building has always been a major event and it is continuing to grow in importance as well. This year, 2,589 exhibitors participated in the world's leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology – almost 100 more participants than two years ago. The slogan for this year's trade fair was "Where modern spaces come to life: digital – individual – networked".

From 13th to 18th March, around 216,000 trade visitors, an increase of almost 5,000 compared with 2014, from 160 countries came to the exhibition centre in Frankfurt am Main to find out about innovations, solutions and new products. Once again, Hager Group's appearance at the industry's most important trade fair was also a great success.

The number of visitors to the joint Hager, Berker and Elcom brand stand was surpassed once again. Individual tours of the stand were held for 33 national visitor groups including customers, students, architects and journalists. There were also 21 international tours for visitors from 17 countries, ranging from Ireland and Spain to Qatar, Morocco, Singapore and Australia.

The trend towards internationalisation was confirmed at Hager fair stand, where 67% of visitors were international (63% in 2014). This means that more visitors than ever before travelled to Frankfurt from abroad. The majority of the international visitors at L + B came from Italy, the Netherlands, France, Great Britain and China. Overall, the most strongly represented visitor group, as in previous years, was skilled tradespeople from Germany.

At our stand, all visitors were introduced to products including the Hager Energy Management and Storage System (EMSS), with which Hager is breaking into the business sector of private power generation and energy storage. Other new products featured included the Berker Q.7 switch range, our hagercad planning software, an energy monitoring system for functional building, the KNX System easy and Hager reactive power compensation systems. A special section of the trade fair stand was dedicated to Hager Manufaktur and the expertise it offers in terms of individual solutions. During the six days, the challenges offered to trainees in Workshop Street were solved 1,444 times.

Our colleagues from EFEN also had a positive experience during these six busy days, commenting that, "in showcasing new solutions from the field of smart solutions, we were able to gain a variety of new contacts and leads." The highlights at the EFEN stand were the smart grid interface and current transformer solutions in cooperation with SAG. New contacts were made with project and planning offices, industry end customers and municipal authorities. All in all, the EFEN stand welcomed 289 visitors.
