Self-sufficiency for listed buildings

Old buildings, new builds and a business become self-sufficient together! Implemented with Hager Energy

In this self-generated energy project, we faced every conceivable challenge: a listed building from the 19th century, an existing building with a photovoltaic system that only feeds into the grid, a small new building and a dental practice with high electricity consumption. How would it work, given the huge energy demands of 50,000 kWh of heat and 35,000 kWh of electricity (not yet including any electric cars)? Today, these kinds of places can be made self-sufficient with standardised technology from Germany: the core elements are a photovoltaic system, a CHP unit and software-based energy management, which the Quattroporte 3 x MAX XXL energy storage system takes over from E3/DC. The district solution works on the basis of a projected 70,000 kWh of PV generation and 33,000 kWh of CHP electricity per year with self-sufficiency at 91% and only 9% of energy drawn from the grid. There are also charging options for electric cars – a complete package that can serve as a blueprint and an example for the energy transition. Apart from the investment, energy costs are minimised to virtually nothing.

The highly innovative E3/DC solutions complement Hager Group’s energy management offering. With E3/DC energy storage systems, users become more independent of the power grid and increase their security of supply and cost transparency. Self-generated electricity, from a photovoltaic system for example, is stored according to supply and demand.
