The Training Open Day was held at the sites in Blieskastel and Heltersberg for the first time this year. Under the theme of “hands-on training”, the event saw our trainees, students and instructors showcasing a broad range of informative activities on everything to do with our training centres.
All in all, 150 visitors came along to find out more about the variety of training opportunities and occupations on offer in the metal and electrical industries. And the perfect place to do it was in the M+E info truck. Covering floor space of 80m² and spanning two floors, the info truck not only provided career guidance with the help of multimedia applications, but it also came equipped with clearly designed experimentation stations to give guests an opportunity to fully grasp and experience the fascinating world of technology.
Along with the career guidance provided, application training was also offered on the company's premises, allowing visitors to pick up important tips on preparing applications, information about the face-to-face interview and general information on the application and selection procedure at Hager Group This informative programme was met with a positive response from guests, who found it extremely helpful and fascinating: "We've already discussed this topic at school, but today was particularly exciting for me as we found out about the kind of things that are really important for a successful application from the perspective of the HR department and the company itself."
Then it was on to the training centre for the practical component: this was the guests' opportunity to gain first-hand experience of how the different machines are operated. The equipment set up here helped to demonstrate the basics of electrical engineering and technology, as well as specific forms of technology including control and protection technology. There was also an opportunity to operate machines such as the 3D printer or the CNC milling machines with the help of the trainees and the trainers.
In addition to various skilled jobs at Hager Group, the dual study courses on offer at the company were also presented at this event. Two of our dual students from the fields of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering were also on hand to provide general information about the dual study system and answer direct questions from the guests. Andreas Fuchs, Head of Commercial Training, also added supplementary information to the overview of the course options provided.
This event aims to get young people excited about the skilled jobs available at Hager Group and about the company itself.
