At Hager, we respect your privacy and we want to be transparent about the types of personal data we collect about you and how we use it. In this Job Application Privacy Notice (hereafter the "Notice") we explain who we are, how we collect, share and use personal data we obtain from individuals who apply for a job on our website.

This Notice sets out the personal data that we collect and process about you during the online application process, the purposes of the processing and the rights that you have in connection with it.

The recruitment on this website is managed by Hager SE who is the data controller for all personal data that is collected via this website. 2. What personal data we collect and why
2.1. Information that you provide during the online application process
During the online application and recruitment process on this website, we may collect the following types of personal data about you:

  • identification and contact details (such as your name, address, telephone/email address, photograph, IDs, date of birth, nationality, gender, mobility, language and other  information that identifies you),
  • educational and employment background (such as academic/professional qualifications, job qualifications, education, CV/résumé, transcripts and employment references or recommendation letters),
  • job application information (such as the role for which you are applying, your job application and related documentation/communications, cover letters, information from interviews and phone screenings, compensation/benefits requests, relocation information), and
  • previous applications/roles (information relating to previous applications you have made to Hager and/or any previous employment history).

2.2. Sensitive personal data
We do not actively request any information that reveals your racial or ethnic origin, religion, political or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic or biometric information, or information about your health/sex life or sexual orientation during the job application process, and we therefore ask you not to provide such information. Nonetheless, we may have knowledge of some sensitive data (e.g. religion) if you spontaneously provide to us in your CV.

2.3. Information that we collect automatically
During the online application process, we may collect certain information automatically from the computer or device you are using, such as your IP address, device type, unique device identification numbers, browser-type, web preferences, broad geographic location (e.g. country or city-level location) and other technical information. 2.4. Information that we collect from third parties
We may obtain your personal data indirectly if you apply through public recruitment websites and social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn). We may also obtain information and feedback about you from your former employer(s).  We may also carry out background or criminal record checks (where permissible and in accordance with applicable laws).

3. For what purposes we use your personal data
Hager collects the personal data you provide through the online application process for the purposes of managing Hager's online job application and recruitment process. Consequently, Hager may use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • to allow you to set up and maintain an account or registration;
  • to create and maintain your online profile;
  • to enable you to contact us and enable us to respond and provide feedback;
  • the evaluation and selection of job applicants including for example setting up and conducting interviews and tests,
  • evaluating and assessing the results thereto and as is otherwise needed in the recruitment processes including the final recruitment,
  • communicating with you during the recruitment process,
  • verifying your information and carrying our reference checks or background checks (where applicable),
  • putting in place necessary arrangements for your future employment, and
  • to generally manage and improve our recruitment and hiring processes.
  • to make your profile visible for only the job recruiter or recruiters in the country or recruiters in the group.

If you are accepted for a job at Hager, the information collected during the online application process will form part of your ongoing employment record. In such a case, please also note that additional information may be asked to complete your recruitment in accordance with our Employee Privacy Policy.

4. Who we share your personal data with
We take care to allow access to personal data only to those who require such access to perform their tasks and duties, and to third parties who have a legitimate purpose for accessing it (for example recruitment agencies). Whenever we allow a third party to access personal data, we will implement appropriate measures to guarantee the information is used in a manner consistent with this Notice and that the security and confidentiality of the information is maintained.

4.1. Disclosures to Hager affiliates
As a global organization consisting of multiple affiliated companies in various countries, Hager has international sites and Hager uses resources located throughout the world.

Therefore, we may from time to time share your personal data with other Hager affiliates in order to manage our recruitment process at a group level, as well as for other legitimate business purposes such as compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

4.2. Disclosures to third party service providers
In addition, we make certain Personal Data available to third parties who provide services to us, for example, we use Success Factors to manage the online application process on our website. In addition, your personal data may be transmitted to service providers to perform background checks (where permitted by applicable laws). Finally, your personal data will generally be shared with third parties whom we have selected to run, manage and operate our websites.

4.3. Disclosures to other third parties
We may also disclose Personal Data to other third parties on other lawful grounds, including:

  • to comply with our legal obligations, including where necessary to abide by law, regulation or contract, or to respond to a court order, administrative or judicial process, including, but not limited to, a subpoena or search warrant,
  • in response to lawful requests by public authorities (including for national security or law enforcement purposes),
  • as necessary to establish, exercise or defend against potential, threatened or actual litigation,
  • where necessary to protect the vital interests of  another person, and/or
  • in connection with the sale, assignment or other transfer of all or part of our business.

5. On what legal basis we process your personal data
We will process the personal data about you we collect during the online application process based on the necessity to manage our relationship with you, based on our legitimate interests to carry out recruitment and to manage the hiring process and/or, where you are considered for employment, to take steps prior to entering an employment contract with you. We may also use your personal data to comply with applicable laws and regulations, or to protect the rights and interests of Hager, our employees, applicants and others, as required and permitted by applicable law.

Without your personal data, we cannot manage our future work relationship with you, nor comply with applicable laws.

6. Transfers of personal data outside the EU/EEA
Hager operates at a global level, and consequently, in some limited cases, we may need to transfer some personal data to countries other than the ones in which your personal data was originally collected, for example, for internal recruitment, career planning and international mobility purposes. Some of these countries may be located outside the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA). Where that is the case, Hager will implement appropriate or suitable safeguards to ensure that an adequate level of protection is provided to personal data that is transferred outside the EU/EEA, such as entering into EU standard contractual clauses with the data importer, or implementing other measures to provide an adequate level of data protection under EU law. 7. How long we store your personal data
We retain personal data we collect from you only as long as is necessary to carry out the purposes described in this Notice or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements. 

We will delete your personal data as soon as they are no longer required for the above-mentioned purposes or there is no longer any justified interest in the storage of the data. After completion of the application process, your personal data will be stored as long as we are obliged to do so under national law. In addition, personal data may be retained for the period during which claims may be made against us. If you are successful and offered a job at Hager, your personal data will be used to complete your hiring process by our HR department.

Regarding the account you have created on our online recruitment page, we will store your personal data for as long as you are actively using and logging into your account. If you do not log into your account for a continuous period of 12 months or more, we reserve the right to close your account.  We will send you a warning by email prior to closing your account. Deletion of closed account will include the deletion of all applicable account information, including contact details and CVs.

8. How we protect your personal data
We are committed to ensuring the security of your personal data. We utilize robust precautions to protect the confidentiality and security of the personal data within our website, by employing technological, physical and administrative security safeguards, such as firewalls and carefully developed security procedures, for example, when you enter confidential information (such as login credentials or information submitted from within the Website). We encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). These technologies, procedures and other measures are used in an effort to ensure that your personal data remains safe, secure, and only available to you and to those you authorized to access your personal data. However, no internet, e-mail or other electronic transmission is ever fully secure or error free, so you should take care in deciding what information you send to us in this way.

9. Minors
The services we provide on this website are not intended for individuals below the age of 16. If you are under 16, please do not submit any applications on this Website.

10. What data protection rights you have and how you can exercise them
The following rights are available to you under applicable data protection laws:

  • The right to obtain confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being processed and, where that is the case, the right to access your personal data and obtain a copy;
  • The right to obtain the rectification of inaccurate personal data and to have incomplete personal data completed;
  • The right to obtain the erasure of your personal data and to restrict the processing of your personal data on certain legal grounds. 
  • The right to object to the processing of your personal data, on grounds relating to your particular situation, where such processing is necessary for the purposes of Hager's legitimate interests, unless Hager has compelling legitimate purposes for processing your personal data;
  • The right to request the portability of your personal data where the processing is based on your consent or on a contract and the processing is carried out by automated means.
