Electric mobility

‘Fill-up’ with electricity, save fuel and protect the climate

Electromobility might still be moving at a rather leisurely pace, but there’s no doubt that it’s an up-and-coming topic. The disadvantages of the traditional internal-combustion engine for the environment and the climate are too great, supplies of fossil fuels too limited and the advantages of sustainable mobility simply too obvious to ignore. The German Federal Government would like to see one million electric vehicles on Germany’s roads by 2020, vehicles that ideally will be powered by electricity from renewable sources. In many large cities that are currently overwhelmed by traffic noise and exhaust fumes, it is likely that electric vehicles will have right of way in future.

Electric vehicles can even be useful when they are stationary. When connected to the owner’s home energy system, the vehicle’s battery can be used as a storage medium that absorbs energy whenever there is an excess available and supplies it again when it is needed. Given that more and more consumers of energy are becoming “prosumers”, i.e. producing electricity themselves as well as consuming it, that is an unbeatable advantage. In this way, an electric vehicle in the garage can become an energy storage device and the consumer’s private distribution board becomes an energy centre that manages energy consumption and generation intelligently.

This is precisely where our key competences lie. Our charging station “witty” for private consumers, with its award-winning design concept, contains an energy management module that intelligently adjusts the charging process according to electricity generation and consumption. In addition, witty meets European standards for charging stations, so it can be used anywhere. We are now working on further charging solutions for private and semi-public spaces. In other words, when electromobility really starts to gain momentum, Hager Group will already be on board.
